It is with great sadness that I post Lynn Congdon’s death. Lynn was an exceptional participant in Justice for Shellie website/blog. Lynn was intuitive and possessed a keen perception while also being bright, well liked. Her contribution on behalf of her quest for justice for Shellie Carson was dogged. Well respected. She worked with me on projects behind the scenes and will be greatly missed.
I met with Lynn and her boyfriend Ross on Sunday, June 10, 2018 to discuss aspects of our work for Justice for Shellie. Lynn died less than 24 hours after our meeting. I visited with her mother Dana and sister Leigh and she painstakingly told me what happened. The mother revealed that Lynn, who resided in the mother’s home was visited by Lynn at about 6:30 AM and was asked to come for her two boys 2 1/2 and 6 months so she could rest. The mother checked on her daughter at 930 AM and Lynn wanted to sleep a while longer. At 1:30 PM Leigh visited Lynn and found her unresponsive. The mother tried CPR but knew in her heart that Lynn was dead. She told me an autopsy was performed and certain vital reports wouldn’t be known for several weeks.
Lynn always brought William with her on meetings and when Noah was born she brought both. Lynn was an exceptional mother who cherished “her boys.”
I attach a copy of her obituary which was in the Virginian-Pilot Sunday, June 17, 2018. I urge our readers to join me on Saturday, June 23, 2018 for her services at Calvary Baptist Church at 4832 Haygood Rd for a viewing at 10 AM followed by her service at 11 Am. She will be buried directly after that at Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery. I hope everyone can say a prayer for the family and her 2 precious sons as well as the father, Ross and Dana and Leigh who were with Lynn during the time she passed away.
